Wedding civil ceremonies in the UK

WedNet

It is becoming increasingly popular to get married at other venues other than the church or register office. These alternative ceremonies can only conducted by a recognized registrar. If the venue of your choice is registered for civil marriages the registrar will attend the venue to conduct the marriage.

You can check with your local register office to find which hotels or other venues are registered. If you locate a venue of your dreams and then find they are not registered contact The British Humanist Association (0171 430 0908) and they will advise you of alternative non-religious ceremonies which can be conducted almost anywhere you wish. The association will also send a booklet with full details.

If after reading the booklet you decide that this is for you then association will provide a fully trained celebrant to conduct the ceremony. Note that the ceremonies conducted by The British Humanist Association are not legally recognized so it will entail a simple ceremony at your local register office. This will be explained in full when you contact the association.
